^^ Being a relatively new dad, I like these sorts of shots. I'm going to miss picking my son up when he gets too big.

What shutter speed should I be shooting at with this lens? I'm trying to see if my copy is sharp at f/4 but so far everything I've taken isn't sharp and I'm wondering if it's just me being super shaky even though IS is on...I've been shooting at 1/800 @ f/4 and can't get the same sharpness as my 50 1.4 or any my other primes.

Holy smokes Sandra. Both are great shots, but that first one........... it's almost like it's going to come off the screen and have us both for dinner!!

My little boy is actually a year old now. It feels like he was born yesterday. Our lives have changed so much in that time!

I don't have any photos of him with the 300mm f/4L IS. I'll have to arrange that.

Try 5.6. I think you'll find the results are probably better for you. I know I get really good results most of the time using 1/2000 @f/8. That's for moving subjects though, so I guess it depends on what you're shooting.

Okay I'll try and get some shots later at f/5.6 but I left it on the table and was shooting whatever was in front and still found the results not as good as my other L lenses. That's why I'm just questioning it, I mean my 50 1.4 is pretty sharp and it doesn't have IS.
