my 50 is the full new finish. I personally love it compared to the old. I think it feels better to the touch and looks cleaner.

Interesting -- I have the new finish on my 30mm but the old hood finish -- I like the look of your 50's hood -- although I purchased my 30mm around the time the new finish first appeard and I wasn't sure which I'd end up with.

I actually like the new finish. It look's rich, kind of satin.

So, it's been about an year from the last post. Hows the Sigma finish now?

Im about to purchase a 10-20 f/3.5 and I wonder what type of finish its gonna be...

If anyone bought this lens recently, please, lemme know about the finish. :)
Im gonna buy it from Abe's of Maine.

New finish is pretty durable .. I've a 85 1.4 that looks as good as it did a year ago when I bought it, and it's gets regular use.

I hope it will, GregoryF. I dont like the old finish, I have 2 Sigmas and one of them is peeling off. I want my new 10-20 f/3.5 to last... I hope its entirely covered with the new finish and not a mix of the 2.

I bought the 4-5.6 version 20 months ago and it is completely the new finish (from Abe's by the way), so you should be just fine.

How about the 1.4 and 2.0 teleconverters? Do they have the new finish as well?

I dont know about the TCs, but my 10-20 f/3.5 came with the new finish. So most likely the TC will have the new finish too. :)

My Nikon-mount 85mm (bought new) has the newer finish. I don't think they ever made their 85/1.4 with the crinkle finish. Helps when telling it and the 24-70 HSM apart in the bag, for sure.
