I own a 5D now but i was digging around my old photos from when I started photography.

Its not super sharp but I like the colours.

The hood for the 18-55 is completely useless and cheap. Petal shaped hoods get more light to come in but they are usually for lenses with a wide range like 18-200 or low light lenses like a 70-200 f/2.8L.

Yes, for the 18-55 it's not worth it, it's so small and rubbish looking it makes the lens look even uglier and it doesn't do anything to prevent light from coming in.

I disagree. The hood may be worthless in terms of IQ and the final results...but it provides protection against accidents. Its a cheap piece of plastic...why not protect it a bit?
