Canon 1Dx gets a Launch Date

Calumet in Drummond Street said they had some in when I spoke them this morning, which were of course all sold to pre-orders apparently; but mysteriously absolutely no one else when I phoned around. Ho hum.

Edit: Clifton Cameras have had a few in. The first delivery consisted of just one unit. The trickle continues...

Well, we're expecting a report. Congratulations!

Cheers mate. I'm still astonished the retailer I pre-ordered from (2nd on their list) apparently know absolutely nothing about when they are due to arrive given they are a very big photographic dealer in the UK.

The craziest thing about the place who said he's getting some in is his shop is the most unassuming shop you could imagine. I actually phoned him asking if he had a 15mm 2.8 for a mate, and only asked on the off chance, in no way expecting a 'yes.'

Anyway, much more convenient for me as he's my side of London.

Co-incidentally, I got this email this morning from another retailer: "Blaugh blaugh.. We spoke last week about 1DX, but unfortunately Canon is only going to supply me with 1 camera this month and there is big production problem for 1DX and I have already 7 pre sold, so if I have any free stock I will email you ASAP.

Moreover this is the same story for every single Canon Pro centre, if you find some where please get it otherwise if you want you can pay deposit towards it. ...Blaugh blaugh"

Mainly captive animals, sometimes inside their enclosures which is why I like robust 1D bodies. I've only hung onto the 5D2 because like an idiot I sold my 1D4 when the 1DX was more or less announced not imagining the wait would be this long, and also because it retains video, and couldn't sell it for a sensible price. I'll probably end up flogging it on ebay. Changing lenses, or even having a camera bag, inside a leopards enclosure is generally the last thing you want to be doing.
