Lens ratings? Really?

When I first saw this list I thought either there is a very narrow set of criteria on which to base the lens "rank" or there is something else going on for there to be so few Canon lenses higher in the ratings.

I'm not real familiar with the Nikon lens lineup, however, I've read quite a lot about some of the 3rd party brands to realize something was wrong. Additionally, this list doesn't seem to follow any of the other sites I have referenced on lens quality.

Then I saw the text below and believe there is likely more than one thing going on with these "ratings".

Don't get me wrong, I own the 85mm/1.8 and it is a fantastic bang for your buck lens. But the 2nd best lens in Canon's lineup? -Hardly.

Edited to add: I really hope I'm just reading the list incorrectly, otherwise this list isn't worth the bandwidth it took to get to my computer.

I'm selling my 24-70 and buying a 85 1.8 now!

Don't do it....I own both and you're better off with the 24-70.....

You should see my excel file showing how they rated all the lenses (resolution)... I have almost NO credibility to DXOmark... Yet people swoon over them, I don't get it. Check out this...

Yes... According to DXO mark, resolution wise.

Look at the 300 II... How far down on the list.

DxO does a lot of work gathering a lot of information.... and the results either don't make sense, or are applied in the least sensible way possible when developing their lens and camera ratings. It is really quite sad.

Ok, based on the chart I'll trade straight up my 70-200mm f/2.8 MK1 for their 300mm f/2.8 MKII. Remember mine has more resolution per the chart.
