Bicycles go missing in Sendai too only...the city is the first place one should call when that happens...they have trucks that go around picking up bikes that are parked where they shouldn`t be...then they place a no parking sign at the spot...it`s happened to me...they cut my Kryptonite lock with the hydraulic cutter they have on the trucks...had to buy a new lock and pay the city to get my bike back. Fill in expletive here...

A couple weeks ago I drove to Van Zandt County, Texas and rode around. The first one is Van Zandt County Road 2508. The road was quite rough because it's been patched so much.

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/goldbough/image/144225053/original.jpg

Van Zandt County has changed the road numbering several times. I have no idea how long it's been since the last change. It's a little difficult to tell, but if you look closely you can see that all the numbers except the leading 2 were something else.

I used a TS-E 45mm for this.

kick!

I went out last evening on my bicycle and put my GoPro on the handlebars. I played it back at I believe 13 speed so it looks like a timelapse. I tried to hold the handlebars steady but it turns out to be still a bit wobbly. Maybe next time I'll mount the GoPro on the rear of the bike and see if that helps :)

As you can see on the map this is all on the south side of Amsterdam but no tourists here! :P

I think I would feel cheated as a kid if I was given a bike like that.

"Where's my pedals, dad?"

Age is a state of mind, and I don't.

MPCman:

You sped that 'timelapse' up way too fast...there is no way to appreciate anything you rode by that might have been worth seeing.
I would not have kicked it up '13x' speed...about half that would have been more than enought...at least, in my opinion.

Jim K...who visited your lovely city/country two years ago...just there long enough to take a canal ride and walk thru the 'red/blue light district' :)

OK, a minute into it, and I have it playing in another window because the music is so good, but its just too fast, you can't focus on anything and it looks pixelated or something, slow it down some. Plus, musicians know what videographers are still learning, keep the songs and videos short or you loose their attention. 3 minutes is good, pushing past 5 minutes and no one will see the end.

Well, hey!

I've been "absent" from this thread for the past few months, so I thought I'd "check in"!

This has been kind of a crazy year! I was pretty busy this summer with some activities, some of which involved photography. My bike was/is still my "preferred" mode of transportation (although now in the middle of Winter my biking activity/enthusiasm has "slid"). But all Summer and through most of the Fall I was off and biking!

But most of my excursions involving photography were less those of a "Biking Photographer" and more of a photographer who used a bike to get to a location, so, that mindset was reflected in my lack of jumping into this thread, sorry!

Looking back, I see that my last couple of posts were from "hiking meetups" that I got involved with early in the Summer. I kept up with them through the Summer and most of the Fall, and yes my bike was how I got there, and I brought my camera to a few, like this one where we hiked along the Columbia River (a weekly meetup):

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/144500664/original.jpg

I also got involved as a volunteer photographer for various events. For instance, one group started regular "drumming circles". Well, I made it to a couple -- put my 5DC and a couple lenses in my backpack, hopped on my bike, and rode the 8 or so miles. Here's a shot from one:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/144372750/original.jpg

Here's from another, held on the Fourth of July:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/144542460/original.jpg

One of the organizers, named Sarah, has been an ongoing Facebook friend:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/144534199/original.jpg

And then, another non-profit group is involved in organizing and promoting fun community events in the Vancouver downtown area, so again, load my backpack and hop on my bike!

Live music was a weekly feature through the summer:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/144101612/original.jpg

Complete with shots of downtown on nice, sunny days:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/144105943/original.jpg

Well, those are some glimpses of my summer! Now I'm pretty hunkered down, after a major, stressful move, for the winter, no biking for the past couple months, Oh Well!
