Right. If it's not the 1DX, I don't see the relevance to this thread.

Well he does have a 7D which is rated up to 12800 iso but mine never looked that good that high even in bright sunlight.

I did like the L glass reference - very funny :)

I was in my local camera shop in Wiltshire, UK and they had one behind the counter. Yes it was already paid for and awaiting customer collection. But it's good to know that they are now being delivered.
I think a lot of shops will be wanting to see how well these units shift before they invest in large orders of 20 units or so.

Interesting article....

My take is about the 2 new IS lenses -- 24mmf/2.8 and the 28mmf/2.8. I noticed it was advertised as being for low light where the ISO didn't need to be raised.

It will be interesting to see if these two new lenses are the wave of the future. I say that because clean ISO's can be had at much more sensitive ranges, I wonder if smaller apeture lenses are going to be what Canon pushes.

I've noticed the same trend with point and shoot cameras.... Since I've owned many point and shoots since the digital error started with 1mega pixel, the F-stops have slowly/gradually gotten smaller as the ISO's have gradually been cleaner at higher numbers.

Maybe large apeture lenses are on the way out since ISO sensitivities have become better and better.

Fast apertures do 2 things.

Allow shooting at low light... In combination with IS and high ISOs, we will be shooting in conditions we never shot before...

Provide shallow DOF to isolate the subject, a detail etc. This is not as useful in wide angle lenses which inherently have wider DOF, so yes, I can see going from a 28 f2.0 to a 28 f2.8. It will hurt though if the fastest aperture on a 85 goes to 2.8...

Got this reply from the Canon USA Facebook page:

"Hello Tom. The EOS-1D X is currently shipping to retailers. We recommend checking with your local Canon Dealer in the upcoming weeks for availability. Hope this helps!"

I was told by adorama I should be optimistic for the end of this month and that I'm around number 210-215

Who is your contact @ Adorama? They told me they will not give out how long the waiting list is. Just curious.

Nice, the images look more like 2 stops difference over the 5D3.

Can't wait to test mine out.

I would not say 2 whole stops but definitely 1.5 stops.
