Should I buy the 1Dx now or wait for the 1Dxl?

1Dxl to be announced in Sept 2014 and to be shipped in 2016....

I'm sure the 1Dx is a hell of a camera. For me, shooting motorsports and being the one who pays for my gear, I don't see it in my future. I use a 1D4 and a 7D, having just recently sold my 1D3, and the only reason I went with the 1D4 was because I fear this will be the last APS-H body from Canon, and while I was able to get one at a reasonable price, I suspect as long as they are still available the prices on them will continue to be high until there are simply no more left.

Looks like it's official now. The 1DIV is no longer on Canon's website. I'm sure secondary market prices will remain where they are and not come down on these anymore. No more new supply + steady demand for the APS-H format = higher prices.

I still can't believe that Canon have killed off APS-H.

Why oh why couldn't they at least stick on in a 5D sized body with 1D weather sealing.

Nah - 1.3 trumps 1.6 any day of the week.

With that thinking, wouldn't that imply FF > 1.3 > 1.6? So 1DX is a good thing then.

Yes 1Dx is fab, but for me having a FF and 1.3 is the best of both worlds. I just don't like 1.6.

The issue is though that lens comparability (uwa/fisheye etc..) there's plenty made for ff and aps-c.

Sadly the aps-h seemed to be ignored on this front :(

I did like having 1.3 a lot, it was kind of a 'sweet spot.' Still prefer FF though.

Wow. I might steal that when I go to sell my 1DIV for the 1DX.

Wow, that's 3 hobbyists already that will be buying it. I'm sure there are more too. Something to say about the anticipation for this body.

I'm a back to being a hobbyist with a deep pocket.;)

I've resorted to selling my body. No one is buying.
