Well, the 40D in signature is now toast. Was on vacation last week and it took a tumble from the dining room table. Talked to a rep at UnitedCamera. Filed a claim with State Farm as it was insured. State Farm did not even ask for an estimate after I told them what the tech said. (New shutter, possibly new mirror box). They cut me a check for what it was insured for ($499). So went to Canon Direct Store and with there 20% off right now ordered a refurbished 60D. Can't wait to get it!!

It sucks that your 40d is broken BUT its great that you'll have a nice 60d to play with.
the one thing that you have to get is SD cards. get some 8 or 16mp sandisk extreme 30mb/s cards.
post up your pics!

Wasp larvae is my guess.

Nice shot too. Not like he's going to sit still and let the queen's food get cold while you take a picture :D

LOL...fortunately the 100 2.8 (non "L") focuses very fast. I only had to make about six shots to catch one running down the post. Not perfect focus but good enough for my purposes here.

And, if it's wasp larvae, then great. I'd rather have ants than wasps...hehehe

Oh, and thanks to Paul up there, I am reminded once again that I need to plant some lilies. I've got a couple of acres, and all I have are trees. No landscaping to speak of. My last house, I landscaped and planted and pruned and took care of all of it. Now I just mow. And mow. AAAAAAnd mow.

Great looking photos! I've been reading up on all sorts of techniques to learn my 60D so I can get some nice astrophotography going.

Yeah; ya got a point there. But I can go out and spray the ants and they don't swarm me...hehehe

Finally decided the Tamron 17-50 2.8 non-VC is the one I wanted for indoor and wider than my nifty fifty shots. It came today! So, naturally, I shot a few closeups. ???

BTW, I saw this lens has some noticeable purple/green CA, but it seems to happen mostly at 17mm and towards the outer thirds of the image. Is that about par for the course on this lens?
