Has anyone sent their 5D2 back to Canon to fix CF door?

I've been crazy about the CF door squeak since I got my 20D new back in 2004. My 300D before that didn't have it (and still doesn't), but the 20D made me crazy. After that, my 400D and my 5D also creaked and made me crazy.

I fixed them all.

What I do it take some scotch tape (the clear office tape) put it between the CF door and the body. I open the CF door and put the tape on the inside edge that touches the body. I then use a razor blade and trim the tape by just following the edges of the door, inside and outside edge. In the end, I end up with a layer of tape between the door and the body, and I promise you would never never see it if I didn't point it out.

Problem solved, no squeaking.

It occurs with my 40D, as well. It's not an audible creak, but the CF door shifts ever so slightly when I grip the camera tightly. It doesn't happen all the time, though. I can easily live with it.

But it does reflect poorly on Canon's quality control, esp. at this price point.

nope, but man you should of saw me trying to change my focus screen yesterday! Simple focus screen change, and here I am all nervous I'm going to break the god damn 3000 dollar 5d! these cameras cause me too much stress.

Eh, I am of the opinion that the door on both model 5D's are not designed properly. Mine (a mark I) squeaks sometimes as well. It makes an otherwise soild camera feel cheap. It happens if you change shooting orientation from portrait to landsacape or when picking the body up. Come on Canon....5D Mk3 squeaky door fix!

Creaking issue is still here, Canon couldnt fix it during all these years. Or maybe some of the Japanese executives couldnt admit such problem exists....

No creaking issues on my 5D2. Mine was manufactured Nov/Dec 2011

That said, welcome to POTN. Yes my CF door creaks a little, something I just now noticed because it was brought to my attention. It happens - it's a plastic door on a hinge. As long as the body works fine, I think I'll live haha.

Mine doesn´t creak anymore, thanks to this forum because someone suggested using Gaffer tape!

You should get a 5d3 - no creaks. I heard the 1DX doesn't creak either.
