Gomboman Yes thats the one I'm using. I really like shots when you shoot at 2.8 or 4, but panning you have to be at a smaller aperture and you get all the distracting background stuff, so this is a way to get that dof and pan shots. I usally shoot in manual, set my sp 160, set the aperture 2.8 / f4, and rotate the vari-nd to get the exposure meter where I want it.

I use Singh-Ray's Vari-ND too .. but I fix the speed at 1/60 or 1/80, then I turn the ND until I get F1.4/F2.0 ...

Yeah that why your pictures are so amazing :) I need to get below 100 sp, but on a sunny day, it maxes out the 8 stops that the vari-nd offers.

Unfortunately, on my 25yo 300/2.8 no Vari ND filters available .. so I shoot different style of Pictures ..
All pictures best viewed in FullHD mode, by clicking once on pictures ..
