Neighborhood deer

Here's a few from some walks around the new place in southern Illinois. The ticks must really be a bear on the deer(see what I did there)

Very Nice! So what's the deal, are deer easier to photograph in Ill than they are in Mo? Or did you get the 100-400?

A camping buddy and I were at Cave Run Lake in Central eastern KY and wearing camo and with us deodorized walked into a large herd of whitetails and never even disturbed one of them, we both kept our hands/arms behind our backs and apparently looked harmless to the flock. But then again we suspect the deer knew they were in a strict no hunting area, when hunting season opened it was a mass migration to the state park. For wild animals they would come right into the campgrounds looking for handouts like tame squirrels might. A word of caution though, suppress the urge to pet the pretty black "kittens" with the white stripes and keep the pooches from following them into the woods. Cave Run is thick with wildlife.

I've always wanted to go spend some time down at Cave Run...Maybe I'll have to make the trip.
