Thank you MakisM1, for the useful comments. I agree with you on this. During that moment when I pressed the shuttle, I was actually hoping to capture the silhouettes of the tree and never pay attention to the DOF etc.

Nice photo, I'm afraid that the tree is ever so slightly OOF. Maybe you could up the ISO one ot two stops to shoot at f8 of f11 for a deeper DOF.

How can you tell it's OOF at this size?

The water ripples a few feet in the background appear to be sharp. The tree/duck less so.

He is shooting a 105 mm lens at f6.3, at 30 ft distance the DOF is roughly 6 ft... it would not get from the ripples to the water's edge. I don't know, all I can do is estimate the distance, but this is the impression I get.

Ah, 5 hours and no new 60D posts? I guess everyone is out trying to blow thier hands off with fireworks. Where I live they have been banned due to the drought. Wish tomorrow wasn't a holiday, it is causing my lens to show up a day later, boo.

I'm staying out of the of the heat and getting drunk. No fireworks pictures, for me, this year. They shoot them too low here, anyway. Not going to fight 5,000 drunk people to get to the riverfront to get decent shots either. Skip it.

Came back from Georgia not too long ago and I never knew there was so much to do there! I tried my hand at HDR over there...

Well the 60D arrived today and all seemed well until I tried to get a shutter count. When I hooked the camera to the computer and turned the camera on -- Error 80!!! Tried many different things with no luck. Called Canon tech support and after working with him and he was consulting with other techs they "think" it is the camera's USB connector. So they connected me with sales who is sending me a return label and also sending another 60D which I should receive on Thursday. Waiting again.............

Well due to the holiday, scheduled to be delivered Friday - another day of waiting
