I agree with everybody, awesome series, question on the clarity part, how did you managed to light the sky and keeping the moon dark?

My guess is by masking the moon... it's how I would try it, if it brightened the moon too much without the mask. Clarity is funny sometimes, it seems to not always effect everything, at least as far as I've seen. Maybe I just don't know enough about it to see it though, too.

My first captured lightning shots tonight. Unfortunately the surrounding scenery isn't the best due to the fact I was already pressed for time to get to work at 11 PM. I am though pretty happy with the way the came out. All images have been PP for noise reduction and sharpness for the sky.

Great lightning shots, I shoot macro stuff, and I don't fancy getting a few inches from lightning to take a picture :)

Some of my first in flight shots (with the added bonus ofa new species of hover)

Great series of pics the last couple of pages! Makes me want to go out of the rain and shoot lightnings and buy a macro lens to hunt for those insects :D Gotta find the time and budget :)

Just want to share a pic of my curious son as he reached for the lens, made the shot blurry but I love his ooohh expression

As for the lightning shots, had a rather large thunder head over the mountains about 15 miles from my house. I set the camera up on the tripod and kept playing with the ISO until I got the light I needed , which ended up being 3200. Then I just used the Intervalometer on Magic Lantern. I set it up for four sec exposures every two seconds @ F/11. The camera shot close to two hundred images, and I got about 30 decent shots out of the bunch. It was the first time i was ever sucessful at capturing any bolts at all. Thank you all for the kind words, means a lot coming from you guys.

WOW!!! Those are epic!!
How'd you do that? My firework pics aren't anywhere near that good.

bobobird wrote in post #14677070 (external link)
Great b/w shots Brain.

KA - super fireworks shots. Nicely done.
Missed getting mine this year due to other things.

Thanks guys! Shutter speed was anywhere between 5-10 second exposures. I had great luck with an aperture of F11-F22. ISO was 800-3200. You really gotta play around with each setting everytime and its all about luck and timing.

** Heres a few more!

I've been away from this thread for a few days and had tons of catching up to do. Too much great stuff! This one in particular struck me:

Justin, I'm lovin' the portraits.
Also, congrats waterrockets on the 1D III!

Well, friends. This camera is a winner for sure. Look at how many threads were developed around it. Wow.

I am leaving the T2i family. Selling my gear and returning to point and shoot days. No need to ask why, but I've just changed in a way that makes it so that I'm not doing portrait photography anymore.

So, I'm going to just focus on travel and travel photography, going as light as possible and using any extra money for jet fuel, so-to-speak. I am 44 and have never left North America. After last week's trip to Belize, Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica and Bahamas (the only other nations I've visited), I have the travel bug.

So, I'll post a few of my last T2i shots. All were with the 28-135 (unless a few nifty fifty shots slipped in. I don't remember if I used that lens at all last week).

By the way, if you look at my signature, all that will be for sale today or tomorrow. I'll sell it kit or piece....doesn't matter.

1. Iguana (about three feet long), Honduras.

2. Roatan Island, Honduras. I highly recommend visiting this island. Very nice.

3. My older daughter (12) with a parrot from Gumbalimba Animal Reserve in Honduras on Roatan Island (beautiful....stunning park....a must for any visitor). 5. I've posted this before in another thread, but oh well. This is me and a friend (I'm the one in the green shirt). Gumbalimba Park, Honuras....Roatan Island).

7. My second favorite nation in the world (so far). Mexico is dear to me, as are the people of Mexico.

8. Finally, my family at the ruins, Altun Ha, Belize.
