Great crow!

The heat wave must be getting to me-the first thing I noticed in the goose pix was the green grass and clover-lol. Great captures-both, as usual, Levina. Yout mastery of blacks is outstanding!

Interesting study in light, Levina, but that crow, well, you nailed it! Gorgeous!

Awesome portrait of the crow...Mine still just look like black blobs...

One day I was walking on the street and somebody handed me a camera. I looked at them and said, "This is not a Canon, what do I look like? A charity case?" So I took it, and THREW IT ON THE GROUND!

Try spot metering and overexpose a fair amount without totally blowing out the background. Take a shot, check the histogram. Adjust accordingly. I try to shoot as far to the right as I can with crows. It's also not a good idea to shoot them in harsh light. This portrait was taken not long after dawn.
And thank you for the kind comment!

The Goose is very nice ( I saw it on your Flikr) but I'd missed the Crow portrait. What detail! really stands out, great work :)

Levina, the Goose colors in the first sunlight are so very vibrant and warm and the Crow, well, you long ago mastered the blacks and this portrait is more proof of just how good you are at it. You made the utmost out of a great lighting opportunity.
