George Lepp featured this app in his article in the latest issue of Outdoor Photographer. It essentially functions the same (plus more) as the TC80N3 controller...remote release, intervalometer. It also includes motion sensor, sound sensor, magnetic sensor, etc. It's $9.99 but you have to also purchase the dongle and camera adapters at $9.99 each. However, most of the apps will also work with the iPhone camera without needing adapters. TC80N3 is very pricey and I've misplaced mine but I always have my phone with me. Highly recommended.

Film: Leica M-4, Elan 7E, Rolleiflex 2.8f, Pentax 645 -- Digital: Canon Pro-1, EOS 5D Mk III
EOS Lenses: Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX - Canon EF 17-40 f4.0L - Canon EF 24-105 f4.0L - Canon EF 35 f1.4L USM - Canon EF100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS USM - Canon EF100 f2.8 Macro - Other stuff: MR 14EX - 430EX - 580EXII - ST-E2 - TC1.4x - TC-80N3

Not very good reviews. The app and the 2 cords for around 30 bucks. Looks interesting but DSLRbot doesn't this app do almost the same thing? I guess there are other types of methods of getting exposure on this one. KC, that app working well for you? You haven't experienced the problems the others state?

Well, I don't have the dongles yet so haven't used it with my 5D. However, I trust George and bought it on his recommendation. I've gone through the app and it appears to have all the features I need and even with the dongles it is far cheaper than the Canon alternatives. Where are the reviews you refer to?

When you download the app on the Iphone if you look through the 28 reviews they are not very complimentary or maybe some of the folks don't really know how to work it. I'd be curious to hear back once you get the dongles and give it a go. Looks interesting!

the only downside to this is i think it has to be hardwired to the camera, where DSLRbot uses the IR hookup, which you can build yourself.

Hey guys!

I'm Haje, I'm one of the directors at Triggertrap. Thank you for your kind words!

I think the negative reviews are mostly down to Triggertrap Free, which had a serious bug in it that stopped it from being launched properly. Understandably, people were frustrated and left negative reviews; but this bug is fixed in version 1.0.4, which launched late last week.

Please do feel free to ask any questions, I'll help where I can!

Best,

~Haje

Since the Android smart phones are as numerous as Apple smart phones, do you plan on an Android version?

Wished I'd seen this yesterday before I pulled the trigger on a $120 never used TC80N3, being a big iPhone supporter and app supporter, this now has me more interested than the Canon device. Maybe I'll just resell it.

I was a bit disappointed when the shipping notice said they would be delivered between August 2 and 9. However, I just got notice that it was shipped yesterday...from Hong Kong, so it'll be a while, but, I hope, before next month.

I'm going to play with my TC80N3 a while, and see how the reviews flow in on this app and setup.

I ordered the hardware pieces for TriggerTrap (Canon & Olympus connectors) on June 28th and it arrived from Hong Kong last week. Can't remember which day but sometime last week.

Just my experience.... haven't actually played with it yet

Brian, can you let us know how it performs for you. I'm really thinking about trying it out. Very interesting app.

Take a look at the features it (Triggertrap) has in addition to those of the TC80N3. It does a lot more over and above the intervalometer.
