I'm starting to experiment with HDR. These are some early attempts. I'm getting rave reviews from non-photographer friends, but I'm kind of worried that other photographers would consider them "overdone."

Normally, I wouldn't care, but I'm looking at entering a photography competition at work and the judging will be done by Photographers and Artists.

I really like the second one.

I'm trying tto figure out where you were sitting based on the phtotos... Are you at the bottom of this one?

Edit: After comparing the photos, I think you must have been higher on the bank than I was.

Johnson and JewelsMari nice shoots. Wanted to go to the same spot but did not
make it out of Olathe. That is a great spot for taking fireworks pictures with the
Bond bridge in with them

Julie, I tried to set up near the garage but eventually moved all the way down a little past you and your brother (he was sitting on the rocks?) I would've liked to be on the bank to get the water reflections better but showed up at 9:45 and didn't want to get in your way. I really like the second pic too. I was hard because I was using a 15-20 second shutter and a dark piece of glass in between so I really didn't know what to expect. Next time will be a remote shutter release on bulb mode.

Thanks kscuda.

Geoff, do you happen to know the name of the photographer or what magazine? I'm sure he did a much much better job than I.

I wanted to get some shots with all the attractions lit up blue for the All-Star Game. I edited these on my new laptop that I haven't calibrated the monitor on yet, so if they are a bit off on brightness and color I apologize and will correct if needed once I get to my office Monday.

Make sure you post some shots here of your outing. This thread needs some help to keep it going.
Here is a shot of the Cheesecake factory on the Country Club Plaza.

Yes your right. They are all towers. Just where in Kansas City did you find all the images that you posted in the Kansas City thread? :)

Probably, that is correct - however, a bit less direct. The Plaza was designed to look like Seville and I think the tower in the shot you "quoted" is supposed to be like the tower at the Seville Cathedral.

On another note: I moved aways from KC 5 years ago and just found this thread/group. Keep up the great work, I love to see the shots and especially how much progress has finally been made on a lot of projects that were just getting started when I was still there.

I hadn't gotten back into photography while I was there - now I have the itch to come back and shoot!
