Well thx! Like many here, there is a story behind every shot.
Suffice it to say that I've learned skills from POTN members and applied them.
These are all taken at my home, we have just over 2 acres (about 325 ft x 340 ft size)
The deer were in our front wildflower area as shown below, about 100 feet away.

Wow! Compared to your home the land size of ours could fit into a thimble - LOL

Seriously, we have a comparatively tiny garden area, but it does at least attract some of Mother Nature's wonderful gifts, though usually no bigger than the size of a dove or a friendly lizard, and the flowers of some of our neighbour's manage to attract some other too. This is a member of one of my favourite bird families - Sunbirds; Asia and Africa's cousins to the America's Hummingbirds - that I photographed feeding on nectar in my neighbour's garden; it was certainly looking at me, so I guess it still applies to this thread ;)

Ashley, I love the DoF on the last one. Of course all of your shots are great.

Thanks Charles, real pleased you like this one too. As you may already know, in situations like these, where the there so much vegetation surrounding the primary subject, the only hope of acquiring at least partial blur in the background is to set the aperture at it's maximum, which on my 500mm is f/4 but with the 1.4x extender attached drops down to f/5.6, so that's what I used in this case. If there hadn't been so much clutter around I would have chosen f/8 though, as this seems to be the "sweet spot" for sharpness in the primary subject when shooting with this setup.

As to all my shots being great - and thank you for that wonderful compliment! - in all humility I must confess there are countless shots I've taken and continue to take that fell and fall a long way short of greatness; the key is to keep on practicing and surely by the law of averages alone a few pleasing keepers will pop up ;)

Hope you're enjoying your weekend :D

I assure you Ashley, I'm taking a pile of crap shots too , but you consistently post fantastic stuff. It's great to see.
