Just think of them as professional photog battle scars! :)

He says as I sit here holding my one-day-old 70-200 2.8L IS II... :p

Big dreams, small wallet.

it's a goddamn work of art if you ask me and shooting with it makes you wonder how a 60 year old camera that works on springs and gears can be oh-so-smooth. :p

Oooh, a proper camera. Started my working life with two of these 2.8F Planar beauties - a pure delight to use. Thousands of rolls later ......... still loved that auto film load sensor roller and those neckstrap clips were oh-so-neat. Bit awkward reloading on a tripod but I wish I still had them, and the health I had back then to still use 'em. They and a Contax are the only three cameras I've later regretted selling.

Phil ǁ Kershaw Soho Reflex: 4¼" Ross Xpres, 6½" Aldis, Super XX/ABC Pyro in 24 DDS, HP3/Meritol Metol in RFH, Johnson 'Scales' brand flash powder. Kodak Duo Six-20/Verichrome Pan. Other odd bits over the decades, simply to get the job done - not merely to polish and brag about cos I'm too mean to buy the polish!

I wrapped my hood in CF for an additional +1 Fps ;)

How many extra FPS could I expect if I added a spoiler to my camera?

While I think well done carbon wraps look good, sometimes downright fantastic, I too would like a real carbon hood to be offered. I'd snatch one in a heartbeat.

The new canon super tele's have carbon fiber hoods. Buy one and you wll have one. LOL

I think a spoiler would only affect high speed shooting. Might increase your SS max to 1/9000 though ;)

It's not just the new ones.
There is an older 600 at work and it's hood is CF too (it's at least 8yrs old)

I wouldn't cover the hood to change the look of it. But it could be nice to be able to protect the hood from scratches, just as I have lots of books I have put plastic film on.

I don't get the people hating this stuff. I'm a pretty hardcore "ricer" hater when it comes to cars. But, a layer of skin on a lens hood seems stupid to make a fuss over. There aren't a lot of ways to personalize a camera anyway. It's better than puke green or primer gray body panels on a civic with 90HP.

That's not fair. All my lenses are L's. Do you think if I put an extra red stripe it will make it faster? Huh? Huh? Do ya? Well, do ya?

This is a Canon 1200mm. The most powerful telephoto in the line, and would blow up your head on a huge wall print. You'd got to ask yourself one question: Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
