Why would you re-think? Because supply caught up with demand? The lens is exactly as good today as it was three months ago.

It is the best lens in my bag and would be the last to go if I had to sell everything off. You will not be disappointed with the quality of this lens. You have to ask yourself how bad do you want it now? Not suggesting you wait but I wanted one this time last year but then decided to wait for the Christmas sales. The price for a new unit dropped to $1,900 USD + no tax/free shipping. Not going to say it will do it again this year but there are so many price hunters on this forum that will post the major price drops when the happen. That's how I found out about mine and picked it up last year. Guess you need to ask yourself is is worth waiting five months to maybe save $300-$400?

I am not sure where you see all these getting on the market.

I've been looking to buy, and I can't find any at a reasonable price. I would pay 2K, but since it is not an immediate need, I am waiting to find one at around $1800.

The only thing I can think of is that times are hard, and after the "new lens smell" wears off, people realized they spend over $2K on glass when they need to pay rent first.

No, you shouldn't. It's my most used lens and I hardly ever do portraits with other lenses when I'm in a fast-paced mode. It's a workhorse and the quality is absolutely awesome. It is definitely better than the MkI. I think that you are seeing people who just bought too much lens for them because everyone was buying it or they thought they could afford it but then their wife found out or something lol.

You won't pry mine out of my hands.

I think many where sucked in by the holiday deals when it was under 2k. At least I was, but I realize its not the lens for me, just to bulky/heavy. I do agree its awesome.

If you wait until Xmas time you will find one around 1900 new, that being said Xmas time is expensive for most people. If you can score a like new one for 2k, I would say jump on it, as long as the lens meets your needs. It is absolutely awesome, however I found it to be to heavy and switched to the 135. Just wish it had IS

ok, everyone is saying what i expected to hear. there are several in the classifieds right now. i admit that the 70-200 is not my most used lens but i used it the day i bought my 5d3 and was more impressed than i had been in the past. can it take the ex2ii and get at least decent iq? i'm trying to clean out my bags a little right now and consolidate. one of the items that might be on the chopping block is the 2x t/c.

There are most likely so many used ones available because of the recent refurbished sale. You could get them for $1600 if you got lucky and one was actually in stock. Easy way to make $400.

Yeah... I have been trolling Canon's site since the promo they had two months ago. I have yet to see a 70-200 f.28 IS II in stock.

Results should be decent with the 2X II (have not tried it myself), but should be better with the 2X III.

The 2X TC II is okay. Use it if you must. It will reduce IQ.

I saw them in stock twice, both times a little after midnight EST.

how is your mk1 wide open? that's where i've found the mkii is better, stopped down they're very similar. my mk1 wide open was very soft, the mkii is excellent at all the f-stops i've tried it at.
