I've used mine when I had it on both FF and crop. I find it renders better results off of the 5D2 than crop. Try micro adjusting it to your body since it sounds like it might suffer from focus shift. Didn't do much post-processing. Just bumped up the exposure and increased contrast/clarity/vibrance a little bit.
