I took my photo 5 posts above yours on a T3i. That should help answer your question. Don't hesitate. I think the only step up to this lens is the 50mmL which will also cost you about $1200 more. I compared all the 50mm's before purchasing and this was the 2nd best IMO.

I used this lens on my Rebel XT for a portraiture class and I got some amazing results. It's when I found out how special this lens really was.
