Anyone here know if a 5D3 with a grip will fit in the Lowepro Flipside 300 ? I think I will have to get a new backpack soon ..:(

yes it will fit though the bag will budge a little.

Timbuk2 users: do you use your cross strap ?

Nope. It's the first thing out of a new bag and into the spares bin in the closet. Then again, I'm not carrying anything larger than a "Small" Timbuk2 messenger, even my full gear bag is only around 30lbs.

Speaking of Timbuk2, the addition of a grab handle on the 2012 version of the Snoop is fantastic. I ended up upgrading to it just for that. Other than the grab handle, it appears to be exactly the same. (Sorry, no pics because it is exactly the same as my previous Snoop pictures, except with a grab handle on top.)

I didn't get anything of the insides today, but here's a side-by-side of the Timbuk2 Snoop Small and Xtra Small Camera Messenger. The "Small" is the 2012 version with grab strap, the "Xtra Small" is the original series, no grab strap.

If you're prepared to put the 580 in first, with the head angled for "direct flash", not in one of the bounce settings, it'll just fit. But the zipper on the F5Xb makes it less friendly to overloading than the open-topped Domkes are.

got it, thanks for that jon, I know what you mean about the zipper.
- do you think the retrospective 5 would be a better option? I'm currently looking at that now as an addition to my current f5xb.
