Yes, Seriously... 25-600mm f/2.8! Gotta admit, Thats a pretty hefty feat of engineering they pulled off, Even for a compact cam like this

Overall its a pretty sick looking camera, high res EVF and RAW shooting to boot...

Wow, constant 2.8 in a superzoom. I am impressed.

Very impressive indeed with Leica optics and 1080p/60 video.
Sounds like the perfect vacation/do_everything camera.

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

Only question is price... Hopefully it comes in less expensive than that fuji super-zoom compact...

I'm surprised it's not the size of a trash can.

That's the one good thing a tiny sensor does to the optics: miniaturization.

I've used a mates FZ30 and the DOF didn't seem to translate to what I am used to using canon DSLR's. I thought that F8 at 400mm (35mm equivilent) would give the same DOF across all but I will wait and see ... Isn't there some math equations that tell you what it should be?

I saw the announcement of this camera today and am very keen to see it in action. I've wanted a FZ series for awhile as one of my favourite macro photographers used one with great results.

DoF wise i think its probubly close to... f/11-f/16? I could be wrong...

Really the advantage is just in light gathering, meaning this thing can use a much lower ISO than other super zoom compacts, where you're looking at an f/5.9-f/6.7 lens frequently.. This thing gives you a good 2-stop advantage, For indoor photography this will likely result in much better photos... Coupled with the CMOS sensor and this could actually be a very good camera for low light stuff (Compared to other point and shoots.. Especially super zoom ones)

WOW!!! 600mm equivalent!!! Goodbye aspirations for a $13,000 EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM. You rock Panasonic!

This camera has EVERYTHING! And a Leica lens to boot!!!

I can't wait to see the in depth review that shows the great photos that I'll get from the outstanding 1/2.33" sensor.

Uh, wait a minute... That's smaller than my Olympus XZ-1's sensor. And didn't somebody once tell me that the greater the zoom range, the greater the optical compromises?

Hmm. I think I will wait for the in depth review. I do admit that this camera will drive sales among those who think that more megapixels is better and so is more zoom.

Is my math correct, 108mm is the long end of it's zoom which is 600mm equivilent on a 35mm sensor. That gives a crop factor of 5.5 ... so does that translate to a F setting on a FF camera of F2.8 x 5.5 = F15.4? Will that be how the images would translate for DOF?
