Nice, clean, simple photography from you yet again, Sirrith.
Lovely stuff.
You've got all the ingredients there for a fantastic photograph, but the composition doesn't quite hold up. I'm finding that there's too much 'white' space and not enough focus on the two main components.
I love the textures and the colours on show, and in particular the choice of knife, but I want to see more of the pate and the bread and less of the marble worksurface - a rustic wooden board would be a better setting for something like this.
And I can appreciate your reasons for having the beetroot in shot, having looked at your blog, but it doesn't work for me - just feels like they've been left there by accident.
Lovely-looking salad (although perhaps a little too heavy on the fruit for my tastes) but having the edge of the plate cut off is bothering me. And the clothes-pegs don't add anything to the composition either - just seems a weird addition and one that distracts from the food somewhat.
Lovely-looking food in both shots though.
