I'm looking to get a Sigma 17-50, but just not sure if I want/need the OS or I should just go with the regular version. Anybody care to share their suggestions? -Nick

This is the best zoom on a crop camera point blank period.. T3i griped - rokinon 8mm/rokinon 35 1.4/rokinon 85mm 1.4/

It did not have OS/IS. I think Tamron calls it VC. I really like this feature on this lens. I can take pics of still objects at crazy slow speeds and it's sharp. I like having it. I would not buy a zoom lens without it, now that I have used this feature. It makes the lens much more versatile, in my opinion. I would buy the lens over again, for sure. Give it a go.

I think since you've been using the 18-55 kit and this lens would be replacing it essentially, stick with what you know and get the OS version. Here's a couple from the concert tonight. I shot with my 85mm, but it left some harsh edges on the people in the photos. Extremely happy the way the 17-50 performed tonight! Canon 600D

Ordered Saturday and UPS tracking says it should be here Wednesday. After reading tons of reviews and seeing hundreds of pictures taken with this lens, I have to say I'm super-excited. I just hope I don't have the problems that alot of others have had with the autofocusing. (Especially since I'm hoping to use this lens for a wedding in just a couple of weeks) I'll post some pictures soon hopefully.
