Some lovely detail in this set David, I also like how you can see the variation in the eye markings in 1 & 3, the poor buggers always seem to have a worried look, with the problem with Gulls etc, I don't blame them.

These are gorgeous!! You were obviously very close. Good thinking about wanting to do something different with these birds. Excellent work.

Its actually quite heartbreaking to see how awesome your shots are, I really suck at this seem to just get soft focus all the time. Practice i guess

barrie

never give up, I am sure you get some good results, and at the end of the day it is only what you think about your shots that matter, as long as your enjoying it keep going, I have been trying to learn this stuff for the last 40 yrs and still know three quarters of nothing,The most important thing is to have fun, enjoy the wildlife and your surroundings, the shots will come

some advice you may find useful

Get as close as you can, nothing makes up for good fieldcraft, and thats half the fun

always try and get on or below eye level

Think about the background when you compose the shot

use the best lenses you can afford.

stick some of your shots up and we can try to give you some help if you want, happy for you to tag them onto this thread if it helps
all the best, keep smiling
David

Great shots, David, 7+ metres is REALLY close to these guys! This is one bird that's still on my to-do list.
