There is no reason to worry about version 2 of the 18-55 IS. Canon said themselves it was only a cosmetic change. Get whatever one you can find cheaper.

The 55-250 IS sells for around $200 new and less used here on the forum. It is a good lens to add to the 18-55. Gives you lots more reach.

Happy dance! :D

Got my 60D and the Tamron 17-50 VC for $875 total and there's still 6 years on the Mack warranty for the lens. I've been playing around with it all afternoon. The AF is a bit noisier than I thought it would be but overall I'm pleased. It feels solid but I have nothing else to compare it to. Both the camera and lens look brand new.

Off to chase my kids some more :-P
