CANNOT WAIT FOR MY 20' rig-pro

+1 just ordered mine today!

Anyone have any suggestions for attaching a boom to a convertible "style" bar? I am looking to get a higher angle from the side and with no roof I imagine the bar would be an option.

I'm trying to figure out how to sell my stuff and finish it with a Rig Pro set up. I thought I was close to using mine, now I'm back to square 1...or is that 2 or 3

One from today. This 1971 Chevelle SS is loaded with a high performance 454 that makes the ground shake. Fortunately, we had a location with a slight grade & didn't even have to push; coast down, drive back up...

I've been shooting motorsports and car shows for a while now, and finally decided to branch out and make a rig. After reading through what is now almost a 500 page thread, I feel I am well learned in the subject. I have finally aquired all the parts to start and finish my rig. I've got a lot to learn and am picking up a CPL next week.

IMAGE: http://www.gwagdesigns.com/photos/i-77wQZ8q/0/XL/i-77wQZ8q-XL.jpg

My setup

Canon 7D w/Sigma 10-20mm

IMAGE: http://www.gwagdesigns.com/photos/i-JHST7LX/0/L/i-JHST7LX-L.jpg

Avenger F1000 x2 - $130
Manfrotto Super Clamp x3 - $80
Manfrotto Magic Arm w/camera bracket - $105

IMAGE: http://www.gwagdesigns.com/photos/i-q9Mtp2c/0/L/i-q9Mtp2c-L.jpg

Additional Items

2 custom extension rods - $0
Alternate Ballhead and clamp attachment - $0/$20
Umbrella bracket for additional length. - $20

IMAGE: http://www.gwagdesigns.com/photos/i-qK85jWL/0/L/i-qK85jWL-L.jpg

The Boom

3x 5 foot Aluminum Tube 2in OD .065 Wall - $42.08
2x 12.5 inch Aluminum Pipe - $11.15
Machine shop cost to turn down above - $60
5/16th Threaded Rod 1 foot length - $1.17
5/16th Nut, Washer, lock washer - $4.17
4x 5/16th Bolt - $2.72
Wire Rope 20ft - $7.56
Clip and Thimble pair - 10.42
2x Hook and Eye Turnbuckle - 10.48

Boom Total: $142.19

Rig Total: $497.19

IMAGE: http://www.gwagdesigns.com/photos/i-dmgGn7Z/0/L/i-dmgGn7Z-L.jpg

After finally aquiring all the above, it was just a matter of putting it all together and building it. I made the mistake of thinking I could just sand down my 12.5 inch pipe for the inner couperls, but that was taking way too long so had to pay a machine shop.

All accessories (Save the poles of course) fit inside my Pelican 1510 Along with Camera and 10-20 lens. I include an intervalomoter vs a shutter remote, have it set to shoot a frame every 2-4 seconds. I have a wireless remote, but its funky battery is dead at the moment. The custom extension rods were cut from a single thick walled metal tube, I need to sand down some flat spots for better attachment security but so far no issues as the only time I used them downward force was applied. Pole flex is minimal and avoided entirely if the guide line is tightened more.

Hopefully this guide will give some insight to the final cost for those curious. I was suprised after reading through the entire thread how cheap I got my aluminum for from a local metal shop.

Another one from yesterday with my Rig Pro setup! I went a little bit different route on the editing with this one.
