My wife is wanting one of these cameras - she sold her DSLR a few months ago because it was too heavy - arthritis and had the option to borrow mine if she wanted but thinks she's made her mind up to get one of these now.

I sold my DSLR Canon T1i to buy this camera and I am much more happy with the S100 then I was with my DSLR. The only time I will buy another DSLR again is when I can afford a 5Dmk2.

Here's another picture I took a couple days ago.

I tossed the kit lens soon after I got the camera. I owned the 50mm 1.8 mk2, 15-85mm, Tokina 12-24mm f2.8 II.

surprises me. I took some great pics with the t1i 50 1.8 and 12-24, lol same lenses!
shutter lag, compared with the newer models, wasn't an issue.

but ya can't toss it in your pocket!

I took some pretty nice pictures with it also, but pocket size camera with this image quality is a much better deal since the whoel setup is only $400. Now a big jump would be going to full frame, but that is a much higher price and with that you get what you pay for. S100 vs a mid to low range DSLR T1i and below is pretty close to the same in my opinion.
New camera technology in these new point and shoots are pretty outstanding. A year ago I don't think I would have sold my DSLR for a point and shoot.
And with the extra money from selling all my DSLR stuff I was also able to buy a brand new glock 26 Gen 4 and some accessories :) So I am happy

Glock pictures also taken with the S100

One thing i am missing in this thread is people mentioning if they took their photos RAW and edited them afterwards, or if they used the presets in the camera.

I am still learning this camera.
