Yeah I think the $300 kit lens is going to be a hard sell when Sony and Olympus and everyone else include theirs for $100 with camera body.

Seems the 18-55 isnt the kit lens though, the 22mm is, So it seems they're going after X100 users and those of us Canon shooters looking for a second camera

$800 is fair, sounds like a cracking great camera..

Might get one, Definitely thinking about it...

I was thinking this would be great addition to my gear set. As in have both bodies, and mix and matching whatever setup you need on the day. Like shooting professionally and need rapid control? Take your slr. Going casual? Take the eosm and lenses. Maybe some small primes. Just another tool for different purposes.

Now I don't know if I'm just looking for use cases now, but after perusing the specs, I really want one in my bag as a sort of dedicated wide prime. It's small enough to kind of just have it and then whip it out for some wide action to complement my short tele I love on my slrs. And if I feel like, I can JUST take the eos m with me.

If I'm on major travel, I might take my slr and have a standard zoom attached. And as usual have a telephoto in my bag - why not have a sensor attached to that telephoto hey maybe have it attached to my 100mm macro. I hate hiking around mountains with amazing landscapes seeing a nice bug or flower and having to swap lenses just to take that one image and swap back.

With eos m I don't have to. I have my main lens on my slr and my alternative on my eosm. Or I just bring my eos m and go point and shoot. I see the eosm as a complement to my slr over being a replacement. But it can be a replacement at times too

I would be just as happy to get that 22 mm lens in an ef mount but that with my 40 and 270 flash seems like a nice tiny setup that I am now considering.

im looking at it right now in a video..the thing is SMALL, it fits in the girls hand, makes me wonder what exactly is sacrificed in it, im guessing battery life is going to be not that stellar...

I've more recently figured out that I'm a two lens kinda guy. I mean that I love my lens collection, but when I go out, I typically reduce to two lenses, usually a standard zoom and some more specialty to accompany, either a 50mm wide aperture, a macro or a telephoto zoom.

With an eos-m, there will be a sensor on my second lens and I can switch them over if I really need to.

It's also a point and shoot camera that can transform into a backup body.

Yawn. Sony, Fuji and Oly have already 2nd and 3rd generation mirror less cameras thst run circles around this.

All three of those have huge drawbacks, as does the new Canon. M4/3 has the little sensor, Sony's got terrible lenses, and Fuji has slow operation and an ambitious but funky sensor (not to mention a high price). The Canon's drawbacks are a lack of EVF and manual control - but the hybrid AF could be fantastic, and if that 22mm lens turns out to be quality, it'll be by far the most appealing pancake on the mirrorless market. Plus the M-EF adapter is significantly smaller and cheaper than its Sony equivalent, and should allow EF lenses to AF much faster than the Oly adapter does for 4/3 lenses.

Long story short: we now have six companies making mirrorless cameras (I refuse to count the Pentax Q), and while none of them have gotten it completely right yet, there's now enough choice out there that most people should find something that works for them.

Very interested but it'll have to go down a bit in price before I pick it up especially since I'd be buying the adapter too. $500-600 would be more my neighborhood for the 22mm kit. Sounds like something you'll have to pick up an extra battery or two too. I have a tendency to fire away at events.

I think this will be a great 2nd camera to my 5DII. i've been meaning to upgrade my 40D for a long time, and carrying a DSLR on a night out or any event (I'm just a hobbyist) is tough sometimes.

I know it comes with an EF adapter... but do anyone think this will work with EF-S lenses (or even 3rd party FF/crop lenses)? Its an APS-C size.

I can see the 22mm f/2 and the 40mm f/2.8 pancake be a good light 2-lens kit when going out.

well, it is definitely something to think about. i am not watering at the mouth like many here in regards to mirrorless cameras....but if the reviews are good...I would be willing to look more seriously at it.

It has a white dot on it, so I'm assuming yes. And it is an APS-C sensor, which is what EF-S lenses are made for.

Well, I (probably) won't be buying this one, but I'm certainly a bit more excited about the possibilities of their future professional-oriented model.

Edit: Although then again, the more I think about it the more tempting it is to maybe replace my backup 7D with this... hmmm.

Finally Canon comes out with something to fight with Nikon.. well I heard Nikon's mirrorless is just a tiny sensor, smaller than APS-C.

I might sell my X10 if the EOSM had a built-in viewfinder. But as it is, no thanks. Looks like the X-Pro1 is still the one for me, except it's too expensive.
