So, it's been a while since I've been on here! I feel that I have been growing as a photographer and wanted to share my last session with ya'll, which was a high school senior session & my first senior session ever, so I'm wanting some c&c!! Thanks!!!

Brandy :D I'm not claiming to be an awesome photographer, so there's no need to tell me I'm not one, but I am claiming to be a new photographer who's learning and trying to be the best I can be at it ;) My recently new website, which is temporary until I can afford a real one!~ www.free2bemephotography.weebly.com (external link) ~ Currently using a Canon Rebel T1i EOS 500D

Lovely lighting and some effective PP, you're on the right track! A little more variety in framing might be good, and the poses look a little awkward in some of them. So refreshing to see some humility (don't overdo it though!), instead of the approach of "here's some photos I took recently and they are awesome!" that seems pretty common lately...

Nice shots. Don't like the placements of your watermark. Especially #1 with it directly on her chest.

Thanks you guys!!! And if you don't mind, where should we put our watermark at? I see it put on some many different locations for different photographers, so I am clueless as to where they should actually go! LOL!!! And, scribe55, could you please tell which poses were awkward so I can learn from it and not do it again!! Thank you so much! I still have a ton to learn!! ;)

Only comments I would make are to watch your posing a little closer. #2 makes her look fat. #6 & 7 might have been better had she dropped the shoulder facing the camera. The high shoulder makes her look masculine/stand-offish.

Good exposure/focus/light.

I think #1 is pretty but because of the pose, i would smooth her back line, so it doesn't look lumpy

#2 is gorgeous, but it makes me think shes pregnant as she's holding her stomach? is she?
would be gorgeous if she was.. :) if not, i would suggest liquifying her stomach in a little :)

#3 is very pretty :)

#4/5 are very cute, nice!

#6 im not a fan of, she looks a little awkward/uncomfortable :P

#7 is ok, a smiley pose would have suited it more i think though :D

#8, i like but i do think it would be better with her more postured, as her back looks a little hunchy :D (easy to bring in in post though..)

with watermarks, i think bottom corner if it's a long watermark like yours :) i don't use them, but at least in the corner they're less "inyourface" where it takes focus from the photo xx

You guys are awesome!! Thanks so much for the advice!!! I didn't even think about having her shoulder dropped some toward me! I was so worried about posing her (since it was my first senior session) that I stayed up every night till 2 A.M. the days before the shoot just looking up posing on the web!! LOL. I was definitely trying to watch where I positioned her hands at, as well! And I didn't know I could smooth out her back or liquify her stomach some. I guess I will be googling how to do that on photoshop now! But thanks everyone! It definitely is helpful for next time! (I have 3 more seniors to do in the next 3 weeks and 2 are males, and I'm sooo worried about posing them (and might I add I'm also nervous cause these sessions will be my first sessions that I will photograph someone other then family or friends or someone I know at least....I mean I was paid by all of them, but it's different when it's your first time getting paid by someone you don't know & taking their photos!! Ahhh! But I'll be ok!) Anyways, guess I'll be looking up male posing!!! LOL

Ok, here are just a few more to get any advice on!

Does this pose look awkward? I saw this pose alot with other photographers and on posing guides I went on. So I figured I would try for it as well! How did it turn out?

Does this one scream creative or just stupid looking? I saw this window hanging off the side of a wooden post (weird, I know!) and thought it'd be pretty neat so I took her photo through it.

I love using frames inside of frames like this window in an odd place. Instead of using it straight up, I probably would have gone the other direction and backed her way off to a full length shot in the distance looking off camera with the camera backed off to get the odd location of the window. I would try to lead the eye towards the window and then through the window to the client.

I love the shots in the chair, love the train shot and the use of afternoon back light in your shots. I like your f/stop decisions and shallow DOF. For shot number 2, I might have had her shift her weight to her back foot and shoulders back a little more. I do a lot of maternity sessions and that was the first thing that came to mind with her hand on her stomach.

Number 7 is very simple and beautiful. Great uncluttered out of focus green background. I like the use of space behind the client and the lack of a smile. It creates some slight tension in the pic rather than open space in front of her eye-line.

Really good work overall, I think. I'm curious how your client felt about the session. :)

Thanks!!!! I need any advice I can get!! I do see what ya'll mean about her looking slightly pregnant!! Uh oh! LOL. Next time I will know better! She loved them, though!! In fact, because of her senior session I did with her, about 4 of her friends have already contacted me (or their parents have) and set up appointments with me! So I am excited! :)

I really like all of these. I'm not anyone to give any negative critique, but I think you should be proud of all of these.

My favorites are #2 (I also thought she was pregnant, but she looks stunning in the picture) and #7 on the first set. #1 of the second set is great. I love it.
