70-200 alternative?

so i just sold my 70-200 f2.8 IS version one with the plan to go get the version 2.

but are there any alternatives that i should consider before buying the version 2?

i already have an 85L and a 300 F2.8 L so maybe was thinking of a 135L, 200L

i mostly shoot weddings and professional sports

will i miss the zoom if i switch to all primes?

The 135 is amazing... love mine!!!

A large majority end up using the 70-200 II more than the 135L and 200L, when they buy it.The convenience of the zoom and it's IQ, make up for the lost stop with the 135.

I'd pick the 70-200 II over the 135L any day. Wait, I actudally did that, sold the 135L and got the 70-200 II

IQ they're on par, but the zoom is just so versatile, I don't miss the shots like I used to becoz of the fixed focal length. What's the use of a lens if you miss so many shots even if it has great IQ?

Wedding and sports? zoom hands down for versatility...

Heh, this shouldn’t be a question. I sold my 135L and hot a 70-200 II back in last year and neeeeeeever looked back. HOWEVER< I did add an 85L and I use both lenses extensively... They’re both great for what they’re designed to do. But as for 135L and 200L, the 70-200 II wins any day,... unless it’s 200 f2L IS

Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS + 135L = same price as the Mark II Canon.

Hmm... Guys, you make me think about "not getting" 135L and swapping my MDP 80-200/2.8L for a 70-200 II....

MDP is VEEEERY outdated. I hated my first 70-200 because it didn’t have IS... That’s when I upgraded to the IS II versiion... 4-stop IS isn’t no gimmick!! It really works like a charm!

Well.. But 70-200 II cost 4x time more then MDP =)
And MDP, being outdated still deliver crisp and sharp images. What about the focusing, it's enought for almost everything about some kind of sports.

Maybe I'll get the new 70-200 and the 200 f2 best of both worlds

I don't own the new version of the 70-200, but I can't imagine shooting a wedding without a zoom lens in that range and from what I've heard the new 70-200 is amazing.
