My issue might be usable focus point with certain lenses? So does that mean if I have my AF point on my 85mm f/1.2 lets say all the way to the right of the frame that my sharpness will be off? So i will have to focus center of frame and recompose the shot?

I'm afraid you are rather missing the point! If everything else is in order....MFA etc. ...then the camera will begin to focus on the point you set, whether it's in the centre or to the far right or left. That is the whole idea of the excellent new systems in the 1DX and 5D3. After achieving focus on the chosen point, and depending what "case" you are set on, and how many focus points you have chosen to use, the camera will follow the subject you focussed on until you shoot, or until circumstances change sufficiently for it to lose focus.

Have you read page 75 in the 1DX manual? I am going to assume the MFA is fine for now. None of my gear has been dropped. If I snap a picture of someone standing still, the picture still doesn't seem quite crisp unless you do some work on it after the shot. I will post up a picture to show.

This picture is in Raw and see the specs below. Obviously the sun is out and plenty of light. I still think this picture is very grainy and appears to be unsharp or crisp. Am I doing something wrong or is this what I paid $7K for?

Looks soft. Try manually adjusting the focus for that lens. A lens does not have to be dropped for it to have to be adjusted. All bodies and lenses are different. A lens on one body might not need any adjustment and on another it might need it. It's not necessarily a fault with the body or the lens.

Have you taken just 1 picture so far? What else have yo got?

I figured canon would match up their L series lens with the 1DX body. So I should take a look at the MFA steps. How many people actually do that right out of the box? I shouldn't be worried that I have a camera that is defective?

Looks pretty normal to me. It concerns a raw-file not a jpg. From a jpeg you should get the image you're looking for. A raw-file simply needs to have some adjustments. The whole idea is that doing such adjustment afterwards you're working less destructive. At the end you have an image from a higher quality as you can get from a jpg.
And yes, an unprocessed raw-image looks a little softer. Just sharpen it up and you're good to go.

shot my 1st wedding w/ the 1dx last night...looking forward to many more.

The wedding and reception was at the Muhumad Ali Center here in Louisville, so they let the bride and groom put on some gloves!

and how about a little low light/high iso action. It was very dark. so here is the 1dx, 50L @1.2 iso 12,800. Very little noise reduction applied. I could clean it up quite a bit, but i am happy w/ it as is.

I also used a 5d iii and 1d iv w/ the 50 L during this first dance and will post my thoughts about them all in a bit.

nice pics. I am really interested in your thoughts comparing the 1dx to the 5DIII (image quality and AF wise).

Trying out my new 1Dx walking about in between the showers. A 24mm TS-e II was mounted.

Those landscape shots are really nice. Did you use filters for these or one of the new HDR settings?

Love that 24 tilt shift lens! I want it!!
