I've noticed that some listing of items for sale say "PayPal Gift or 3% regular". Could someone explain please. I'm assuming that it an additional 3% for a regular PayPal payment. So what is a gift payment?

It is not intended to be used as a means of product purchase and as such offers no 'purchase' protection from paypal. The typical "fee" for the seller is avoided so they will get the full amount of the price sent. The buyer however will pay this fee when they send the gift payment. Stuff and Things

PayPal Gift allows you to accept money with no fees but is not supposed to be used for transactions. It's only supposed to be used when you are sending someone some money as a gift. PayPal Gift does not have the same protections for the person sending money as a regular PayPal transaction. Many sellers here will accept PayPal Gift or ask for 3% additional if you use the regular PayPal.

When you punch in the payment total in PayPal, it will calculate the 3% and you have to select to cover the 3% or make the other person cover it. So you should clarify with the seller/buyer who is covering beforehand. [5D, 50D] [Canon 50 1.4, 85 1.8, 80-200 2.8L] [580EX, 550EX, 430EXII] | My Feedback
