Blackrapid users

Wanted to check whom of you blackrapid users have a safety strap aswell.
Does any of you just go with the RS and nothing more to secure it?

I've used the RS-4 both with a safety strap and without. I trust the RS system, but what i don't tryst is the screw underneath the camera, Canon have never officially supported this strap or stated that the screw will hold for that pressure upside down.

Thoughts?

All strap systems use the same type screw, there is nothing inferior about the black rapid screw, just be sure to use somthing to get some leverage and really tighten the screw down, the first time I used it I had a hard time getting the screw to come off.

I did buy some uniloops and other safety straps but never used them.

I think you misunderstood me or it's maybe my lack of words (not English as native language) but i meant the camera screwhole (baseplat screw hole??!) from which you screw the blackrapid/op-tec/sun sniper etc into.

I've never heard of a tripod mount failure while using any of the sling straps.

I use the black rapid dual and single straps and have never had a problem. I've been using them for ~2yrs now.

hahaha...I'll remember tht next time I have to pull a truck with my camera.

Been using the RS-4 with no problems so far (touch wood). Any failures (albeit rare) that I've heard of involved the screw coming LOOSE, but never heard of the screw threads themselves giving. My $0.02, anyway.

I have and use a BlackRapid RS-7 and it has never failed me. I do have a safety strap running from the BlackRapid Strap to the normal mount for a strap. It is small and stays out of the way. I mainly have it there to prevent mistakes by me. I'm afraid I'll drop something when switching mounting points from the camera body to the lens ring.

I just call it a the tripod socket

Sorry to hijack but I think its a simple enough question that it wont garner too much attention. Seems like my RS-Sport strap makes itself longer as I carry it. Is there any way to lock the length adjusting mechanism so it doesn't become longer throughout the day?

Never happened to me, but I'm thinking locking down on the adjustment area on the back would do fine. Maybe a rubber band tied under that little plastic bit so it causes friction against the strap?

Rubber band sounds like a good idea! I'll have to figure this out soon...

You need to double back the D-buckle like this:

I have an Op-Tech loop as a safety-strap, more as a safeguard for my bumbling than anything else. Personally, I think failures are rare and almost always user-error, but that doesn't matter much when there are pieces of your camera scattering around.
