yeah, i have a 600EX RT on top of my 1DX...

1st photos from me. I think the last time I shot sport was back in 2010 lol!

The new set up seems to have done ok, im sure theres a fair bit of user error to explain some of the duffers I had etc.

The metering is MILES better than my old mkiin and mkiii. I used to never trust either body shooting in AV/TV modes.

Gave the camera a hard workout over the weekend covering 5 music events + this road race. I need to tweak the colour presets for my music work but I am very happy with the results. flash is much more consistent AF in low light is miles better (I ditched my ST-E2 which i used as AF assist on the 1diii)

Thanks, having not shot sport for a while or even looked at the DX af properly since the initial PDF which was months ago I feel 'we' did ok.

Was in a non ticketed area on the loop about 20mins walk from leatherhead.

All I can say is lugging the 400 2.8, 2bodies + a few other lenses meant it felt like 40 miles

You deserve an olympic medal for that, although not gold if you didn't make the womens race on Sunday

I had two gigs to cover sunday afternoon/eve.

I didnt sleep from friday morning till saturday evening though shooting my music events friday night then getting to the stage by 6.30/7am

I think I'm going to volunteer as photographer at next year's triathlon instead of running course sentry. I really want to get some great cycling shots. Or at least some mediocre ones!

In the us you guys seem to have some very good 'amateur' bike races. If you can call them that, and that wonderful light we rarely get over here in the uk.

Im hoping to get to the time trial on wed to see if i can get some more extreme head on close ups and also some other angles.

On Saturday the roads were too packed to mess about too much, I was worried about my bag being away from me.

How does the DX like the 400 mm ? Similar to a 300mm on a mk iv ?

My original home town. I see the Society tower (Key corp building, or whatever it's called now), the Sohio building (which became the BP building and then I don't know what), the new browns stadium. The terminal tower is hiding behind the Society tower in this shot, I think. I was up at the top of the terminal tower as a kid before the other two high-rise towers were built.

Yes, I know, could have shot it with a 5D3 or whatever, but I really like the shot because it brings back memories.

Fastworld, yeah, they're pretty amateur really. No prize money, at least not in the local events (I know that there are other competitions that do pay, but there's a good deal more that are really amateur events like this).

I'm a bit of a (slow) runner which is why I volunteered for the running portion of the local Tri. Running's a healthy hobby for me, but I'm a good 10 minutes slower in a 5K than the folks that win. What can I say - I started running 1.25 years ago at the ripe age of 52. I'm happy just to be in the middle of the pack.

I'm going to put my real camera to work next year when I volunteer. I did take the S-100 with me to the Tri and I did get some 100 images of runners approaching the turnaround in the 10K, but it is a slow camera with little latitude compared to my DSLR bodies.

Sorry for the thread hijack - just commenting on the interesting subject matter. I might get one of these 1Dx bodies a year or so down the road, but for now, I'll settle for the lowly 5D3.

Thanks Tom. Yeah, this could've been shot with almost any dSLR, but I wanted to try out my new Big Stopper filter.
