I have an old school EOS 100 film slr that I got for free and i have no use for it what so ever. I was cleaning out my "electronics" box and found it, i took it out and nearly chucked it out but, something stopped me. I couldn't, dont know why but I just feel like its a waste. Any ideas on what to do with it? Or should i just accept and bin it?

I would give it away to a student unless you have a vintage camera collection. They are worth $15.00-$30.00.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I keep my Yashica FX-2 and FX-3 Super 2000 (both completely manual everything) film cameras around. I have some good glass for them that really isn't worth much any more. Last week, I took my 2-year-old grandson to Lake Michigan for the first time. I did not want to take my 60D because of possible rain and the lake water/sand potential problem. I took an Fx-3, 2 rolls of film, and a 28mm f/2.8 lens. I now have some really precious shots of his first day at the 'Big' beach. And if I had dropped it in the water, so what? The whole package is worth $20, tops. But I got some million dollar photos. Keep the camera. You WILL use it again.

Well thanks to the potn community my EOS 100 will live another day! I was actually thinking of doing a Cross sectional cut with a saw along the length of it...might be pretty cool.

I'm like that too... sentimental value always gets in the way of getting rid of junk!

Order a roll online of Velvia 50 or Velvia 100 slides for it. Have your credit card company replace your card due to a "card compromise incident". Shoot 36 great shots with the EOS 100 (elan). Notice how the back of the camera just stares blankly back at you after each shot with no histogram. Drive to the store to get the slides developed. Drive back two weeks later to pick up your mounted slides. Look at the amazing colour in the little 24x36mm frames. Spend hours scanning the slides onto your computer and discover the disappointment that you can't get all of that colour into a digital format. Sell the camera on Craigslist for $10.

I have an EOS500 - attached to a 75-300. I can't decide wether the 75-300 is keeping dust out of the EOS500, or the other way around. Niether get used....

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Our local college has a photography department and they are always keen to accept anything like that. Search around for a college in your neck of the woods and give it to someone you know will use it.

The thing with schools is that they want students to use film.

Buy some film and use it. Digital helped me learn wha I'm doing enough that I'm not intimidated by shooting film. So I purchased a used EOS 3 and just love it. I wish the 5D II AF were as good as what the 3 is. Thankfully my downtown has a camera shop that processes print or slide film on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. So I drop off on Monday or Wednesday and pick up the results the next day.

The Eos-3 is a wonderful camera. I've still got mine but don't use it as often as I'd like.

I have an EOS 100 - Nice little camera if it's working.

Very little monetary value. Unless you're looking to try film, donation is a good plan. Otherwise, you could probably sell it here for 15-20 bucks as a CLP trade-in.

Kelly - EOS 5D - EOS 40D - Rebel XS - EOS 10D - EOS 1D - SX230 - AE-1 - OM-1n - Minolta Himatic7 - EOS-1N
ABR800 - Several flashes, remote triggers, stands, too many and yet not enough lenses
