I got myself a 580EX recenlty and started to explore it. But i am stuck with the fact that the LCD is not displaying the range bar at the bottom while I auto focus. I am just using it mounted on camera in ETTL mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mine displays the range scale for a few seconds after AF or metering is activated. When metering time expires, the scale disappears.

Just checked mine again,if the flash head is pointing upwards the display does not show-makes sense if you think about ( bangs head against wall)

troutfisher & apersson thanks for your suggestions. guess you both meant the same thing and that was exactly what i was doing :)

Have a steep learning curve to climb, I am sure will be back here on POTN soon with some more scratching-my-head questions.

Cheers
