I forgot to report back here on my membrane connector.......I LOVE IT!. Thank you guys. It's nice to be able to have my plate on there again and not have to switch out every time I want to use my tripod.

Would you mind explaining this? What is the membrane connector, and what is the plate you are referring to? I am considering getting this strap.

Thank you

The membrane connector is this: http://luma-labs.com/products/m-connect (external link) It allows you to use this strap and keep your tripod quick release plate attached.

So I wonder how the membrane thing differs from the quick release they are developing?

It works in conjunction with the membrane connector if you use one. You'll have one on each end, if you want to take off the strap completely. If you use the pod mount, you'll snap it in there. On the other end, I'm not sure. I use a Optech utility loop so I connect my DIY quick connect there and will still use that when I replace my DIY brass snap hooks, unless Luma Labs comes up with a cleaner solution.
