Gotta pay off the rest of my gear, then I see a 5D MK III and a 70-200 on the way. One thing I have realized, is that I will never have enough gear.

The trend appears to be, with some eBay exceptions, when the 2nd Tier authorized Canon retailers get down to their last few in stock they drop to around $3100 or so to drum up interest and to sell out. Then they go back to close to the normal $3450+. Meanwhile for a very short time other Tier 1 authorized Canon retailers may/will price match that until they realize whoever started the "price wars" in the first place has gone back up in price and then they too pull the plug.

I'm thinking as soon as people start returning Mark III. No?

Really? If you listen to impulse that's easy enough to say. If you're assured in your tools and you are getting the results you want, there should be no rational reason to need additional tools. I'm perfectly content in my equipment that I recently treated myself to a carbon fibre road bike, a luxury I would have never enjoyed 3 years ago because of the constant inadequacy in my gear.

Mind you, that new Canon M looks awfully fun... ;-)a

Regarding the price drop, I see no indication on either B&H and Adorama that this has happened. Still $3499. This was being talked about as a "price drop", not a sale...

Got one from the image world for 3079. Started out as a kit and they pulled the lens. Free shipping, got to my door in 5 days.
