Anyone using the LAN port for image transfer using the EOS utility ?

The documentation ( EOS 1D-X Wired LAN Instruction Manual) seems to hint that the LAN connection can be used just as a USB connection. I typically use the EOS utility to transfer images to my PC / MacBook over USB, and moving a couple hundred RAW images over Gigabit wired ethernet is surely going to be fast ...

As far as I know this can only be done by using the ftp function, however I could be wrong. Does anyone else know as I am also interested in this.

I tried this and it works. However I imagined it should be much faster compared to USB, which I normally use.
There might be something to tweak but I couldn't honestly see a huge difference.
In my setup the 1DX and the PC with EOS is on the same gigabit switch.
I haven't had time to investigate further yet

Dust is an issue on any DSLR sensor. There's no reason to suggest that there would be more dust on the 1DX than any other body. The 1DX also actually has a newer, improved dust removal system.

I also received an email that mine was shipped today (3 days after I returned from a 10 day trip to the rain forest in Costa Rica - figures - right?). I was an April 30 preorder at BH if anyone wants to know where things stand on the list.

Very psyched. By the way the praying mantis photo a few posts above is SICK! I love that picture.

This "rumor" may have been started by the review in The Digital Picture of the 1DX:

Ironically, my 1D X was delivered with one of the dirtiest-from-factory sensors I've seen yet. I was able to clean the sensor with only a Rocket Blower, so the issue was only a minor one. It is not unusual to receive a DSLR with dirty sensors, but for this price of this camera, I expect the sensor to be clean out of the box. Note that this is not only a Canon problem. I'd be embarrassed to tell you how long it took to get a Nikon D3X to stop splattering oil on the sensor (I used over $100 worth of cleaning supplies on that one).

Unfortunately, I continue to find this sensor with dust on it - and have had to use sensor cleaning swabs to remove some of it. I'm hoping that this is just a break-in issue and that once all of the dust is removed from the camera chamber, I will no longer have this problem. But I'm definitely not impressed so far.
