@ Richard ~ do they have regular running and "steam in the shed" sort of days? I am thinking out loud that combining a visit with seeking out the Red Kites in the Chinnor area (there is a nature reserve whose name escapes for now?) might make a good SE PoTN meet???

What they do is a little limited, http://www.chinnorrailway.co.uk/timetable (external link) it is only a small railway not on the scale of Midhants, they run steam most Sundays in the summer months. They have good free car park and a little buffet on the platform which does good bacon buttes which is popular with walkers and cyclists.

They only have one station at Chinnor so once you are on the train you are on the train until you get back to Chinnor.

I go there as its localish easy for me to get to

Someone mention Red Kites, this was taken with my 24 -105 is quite a heavy crop

Morning all. I just wish we could have a run of decent weather for a few weeks. We've seen a fawn most mornings this last week but the light has been so appalling I haven't had a camera with me. Nice spider Chris  I'm planning on a "horses on the beach" shoot while we're in Norfolk in Sept, v excited about it.

That would be Aston Rowant nature reserve, just up the road from where I work. A better place and guaranteed viewing is Watlington Hill or just down the road in Studley Green the local cafe feeds them at around 1pm. You easily get 20-30 there at one time, these places are only 20mins or so from each other so all doable on a meet.

PS. Pack a long lens though as my 500 is short sometimes !!

It was architectural heaven and I shot plenty like this. There were millions of images shot every day by tourists when we were there, I hope not many like mine :)
