Heya guys,
I have a potential upcoming assignment which may involve some water...well, kayaking. I'm hesitant on taking my Canon's out due to obvious reasons (even though I do have insurance) and was looking at the GoPro 2 cameras. Any thoughts on them?

gopros are sports and video oriented. if youre planning to only do video in an active wet environment, then GoPros are probably the best.

Go Pro hero 2 is amazing. I use it for airsoft all the time. 1080p is crystal clear~! The only downside is battery life~!

Hero2 with the wifi attachment.

Full control with the remote (that is water resist to 1 meter)

I can attest to the quality of the Hero2 as far as quality is concerned. For the price and small package it can't be beat. They have a bunch of example stills on their website if you cant to get an idea of the quality.

Don't forget to get the underwater housing so your images wont be distorted.

But... you will have no control over exposure and no viewfinder. Plus if it's dark the camera will use a low shutter speed and can be crap when it bumps the ISO.

It might work but kind of hit and miss.

Some companies make high quality plastic bags with a good water proof seal made to put your camera in. That might be the cheap option.

Oh wait.. for some reason I thought you said under water. During a sunny day they can work pretty good plus the size and mounts are easy to deal with.

I did a review with using the wifi pack on my site as a remote. The phone app should be out sometime in the Fall... I'm excited for it!
