Ok, it was really a group shoot. But the first time I've done anything like this properly (if gigs don't count that is).

Still need to learn how to use the 580EX II, its a bit of a different beast to my older flash, and i didn't have any light modifiers for it, so for flash shots i was mainly shooting bounced off the integral reflector, or shooting using an off camera TTL cable and holding it inside another guys umbrella (01 and 02).
Lots are natural light though.

After good C&C, not going to learn unless mistakes are pointed out. Im unsure on the PP too. Gone for a bit of a cooler look in 03, something you might see in a Myer catalogue. Wanted warmer shots for the rest though, felt it worked better with the tones. Happy to be wrong though.

3,4,5 look a little soft maybe too shallow?
not sure where your getting those shadows on her face from in the first two? at night you should be able to control that
4 is a little orange and 5 is a little green
6 little harsh with the flash and maybe even red eye hard to tell

Yeah, some of them you missed focus, or your equipment is faulty. It also seems like you used a bit too much noise reduction as some of these have that pastel-like look.

Quite possibly a bit soft, was struggling all evening between having enough light to actually take the shot, and having it too shallow or too noisy.
Shadows on the face are from an overhead street light, without any decent light modifiers it was hard to fill the shadows without it looking harsh (a la 6).
4 i was going for a much warmer look, but agreed that 5 is greener.
No red eye in 6, just a bit flat.

I havnt done MFA on the 85 1.8 yet. But i suspect the softness is a combination of being wide open, possible front focus and NR. That said i probably did go a little OTT with NR, especially after most people whining about the amount of noise in some ISO100 shots I've done recently, and just pixel peeping, not actually seeing the photo.
