Try as I may, I can't seem to find the manual audio volume control on the new firmware. Does somebody want to give me a clue where to look?

You need to first turn on the video mode and then go to the menu.

I realize I have missed the first wave of revolution here but neverthless downloaded the FIR file today to upgrade. But my CF card is not allowing me to copy it to its root do I need to change some permission setting somewhere.

I am using windows 7 and connected via USB cable.

If you have a card reader and you have windows 7, it is quite easy to do this, all without tethering your camera and using EOS Info. Probably the same for MAC too. Hopefully this helps you all, because it really is much easier than what many are going through here.

TS are you saying to remove CF card and put into card reader, then download it on your CF card, if so, how large need it be. Once downloaded remove and put back in camera and go to Firmware menu and select update option...

Yes, you are on the right track. Put the CF in the card reader and copy the file from the computer onto the CF. IIRC the instructions say the CF has to be between 64 MB and 64 GB. Then put the CF back in the camera and go to the firmware menu.

Charles said anything between 64MB and 64GB. Your card is fine. I used a 16GB card for the update.

The .fir file is only 17mb, so any CF card bigger than that should work.
