Looks like the entry level FF DSLR will be named 6D. No new 7D Mark II for this year. I don't think the 6D is the replacement for that. Anywayz, looks like the DSLR will have the 7D AF system in it.

No, it won't .

The 6D rumor is just wishful thinking.

Right now Canon has the high end covered with the 1DX, 5DIII, and the (discounted) 5DII.

The low end is also covered with the new Rebel and the new EOS-M system.

The middle tier is the weakest link at this time.
So, the next camera that will get an upgrade is the 60D - likely in Jan/Feb next year.

Canon's entry level FF camera is at least a year away.

According to what? The strongest rumors that I am aware of point to an entry-level FF late this year.

I agree with you...where there's smoke.............aye man..people still trying to hold on to the value of those 5D2's ...Thank God I didn't pull the trigger.I'm looking forward to this new FF...I'll be able to get that and a 5D2 (as a 2nd cam for weddings) for pennies on the dollar

Me thinks we need to keep rumours of a single product in a single thread...

If Nikon releases an entry level FF you bet Canon will, all the Nikon fan boys are rumoring about a sub $2K FF. And they have released lenses that help that rumor, such as the new 24-85mm VR which would make a perfect kit lens for a FF.

Sorry, but no. Canon has a big gaping hole in their high end line up.

A whole lot of Canon shooters (esp those with 5D2) are waiting for a high MP high DR body. Something to rival Nikon's D800, which still remains unbeaten and unmatched.

Yes, they will ... two years after Nikon.
That's how long it took for Canon to answer the D300.

Yup. And cheap new primes too.
So, if Canon is planning an entry level FF camera, where are the cheap new primes and the cheap new normal/walkaround zoom ???.

Where in the lineup?

In the slide from the EOS-M presentation, the 6D could fit in the 2nd row, once the outlying 5D2 is removed.

Of course that still leaves the gap next to the 1Dx and the upwards pointing arrow beneath it... ;-)a

The all too easy response would just be that it's a badly drawn slide, but where's the fun in that...

bye for now

6D? Can't see it. It's a low quality rumor. Canon seems too built on the 1, 3, 5, 7 numbering. Maybe it'll be 11 as prime numbers.
