Does this lens let in more light then the canon 1.4 50mm

They get same light, however Canon is "lighter" :)

Been working on a flick for the last week or so. We're maybe half way through production, and we've shot most of it with my planar 50. I've marked all over the focus ring with a number 2 pencil and shooting video with it is such a pleasure.

I don't know... I use all kind of lenses, not fast ones.
This lens works perfect with regular focusing screen on 5Dc.
