Ahh that's OK - had done some research and considered an A3 Epson but it was twice the cost of the Canon one I ordered (hope the Canons not twice as rubbish!)

I ended up with an Epson when I was looking a couple of years ago, but I don't use it nearly as much as I should. Every time I print something, it has to go through a cycle of cleaning out the dried up ink heads :)

Great shots Rob. Maybe kill the fence post in the second shot, but beyond that I really like em.

Fortunately the newest arrival to the Crawley petting zoo means that the printer is typically busy! so hopefully I can avoid head cleaning incidents!

Let us know what you think. It's in stock at amazon and I'm tempted to order one to print out the pictures I'll take at the Lake district in the next few days. :)

as a side note, is everybody going to the Lake district this weekend? We'll be near Ambleside.

I will! I bought mine at Amazon - £50 off too! I wonder if we should have a UK.SE POTN Lake meet! :D

Hehe. Starting to look that way. :)

Whereabouts will you be? It's my first time in the Lake District. Not quite sure what to expect (apart from rain :) ) and what lenses I will bring yet.

Did it come with enough ink to last you a while? Have you done any calibration?

I'm staying in Grange over Sands - about 15mins from the southern point of Lake Windemere

take all the lenses then you're covered for all eventualities!

I haven't had it delivered yet, should be here today - so I'm probably not going to get a chance to play with it til after the weekend :(

Hi All

I see everyones been very busy lately - I've given up trying to compete or even keep up with the pace of the forum.

Here's a picture taken the other day - had camera on tripod and cheap wireless remote. Camera set high speed continuous shutter - so I got simply thousands of shots of the birds in the bath - all at time when Southern Water has decided to force me onto a water meter.

Canon firmware V2 for 7D is ok - It does give lots more continuous shots.

Nice shot, keep meaning to do something similar but time always seems to be an issue

Does it have to be free? I know Chris uses and rates highly the TomTom app it's ~£40 though I seem to recall

I spent ages trying to calibrate mine using a colour calibration device and couldn't get it sorted. My prints were always darker than on screen.

In the end, it was a simple switch to 'Let Photoshop Manage Colours' from 'Let Printer Manage Colours' and all was right with the world :)

The pragmatic approach wins. :)

Just catching up on the posts and re the Canon printers, none of you will be disappointed.

I have had my Pixma for years and its still going strong. Never had a problem with heads drying/clogging and only have to do a clean once in a long while.

Dont know what photo paper any of you use but their Glossy Pro range gives superb results.
