My wife is looking for a tablet that she can use for photos. She wants to be able to load pics direct from her SD card to the tablet. I have a Nexus 7 and the USB OTG doesnt work with mass storage, and she doesnt really want to drop the $500 for an iPad. Any ideas?

Dont know what reader she is using, but a suggestion that worked for me was to make sure to use a single card only reader. The ones that take multiple cards don't work.

My tablet is an Asus transformer.

The Asus Transformer keyboard dock has an integrated SD slot. I can't recall any tablets with SD slots though...but there are zillions of them out there.

I guess the main issue is getting a tablet with adequate storage to support the file sizes you want to use.

I would personally get the transformer with keyboard dock. I am actually wanting to sell/trade my Acer Iconia a500 for a transformer. The Iconia has a built in usb port for hooking up stuff, but i want the keyboard dock instead. Would make the tablet a lot more useful for me, for what I want to do with it.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800) which could handle a 64GB SD card.

Toshiba Thrive does it. Works well, they're going reasonably cheap now. They just pushed out Ice Cream Sandwich to us so there's been a big UI / performance boost too.

How is Ice Cream Sandwich, any issues on the Thrive?

I love it so far. I was having trouble with wifi not waking up from sleep, but a task killer app solved that problem. There's a great resource for thrive related information, thriveforums.org

They have a thread going on about any issue that people have been finding.

Reviews are saying the screen isn't all that great on the Thrive.

Its not the best, but it was loads better than my laptop display and on par with my desktop IPS monitor. Its got pretty good viewing angles and the few pictures I look at on it are raw from my camera anyway, so that's not a good judge.

Ah okay. Are you using it as a portfolio device?
